BISE Kohat came into being in 2002 with the appointment of Brig (Retd) Talat Imtiaz Naqvi as the Founder Chairman.
The Board of intermediate and secondary education has the authority to conduct 9th class exams, 10th class exams, 11th class exams, and 12th class exams. Subjects under the Kohat board are Matric Arts / Science, FA, Fsc, I.Com, and ICS.
